On December 20, 2021 Jackson Hospital received a most sentimental gift from the family of Drs. Richard and Sarah Schulz, their family home.

Drs. Schulz moved to Marianna in 1953 and opened their family practice. Dr. Richard Schulz, General Practitioner, delivered over 3000 babies while Dr. Sarah Schulz was the community Pediatrician. They cared for countless members of the Marianna community for 45 years.

The Schulzes purchased their family home in 1954 where they raised eight children. It was not unusual for the Schulz family to host medical students in their home which led the family in the decision to gift the family home to Jackson Hospital.

“Jackson Hospital Board of Trustees and Administration are so grateful to the Schulz family for this incredible gift,” commented Brooke Donaldson, CEO of Jackson Hospital.

Drs. Schulz were big proponents of Jackson Hospital and realized the value of education. The family stated, “We are excited to donate our childhood home for the purpose of providing housing for medical and nursing students interning at Jackson Hospital.” The Schulz family is grateful to Jackson Hospital for making possible this legacy that they believe their parents would be very proud of.
