Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation services at Jackson Hospital are specifically designed to enable the participant to achieve their optimal physical, psychological, and social functioning through exercise training and lifestyle updates. For those who have had a heart event such as a heart attack, bypass surgery, a blockage requiring a stent or who have congestive heart failure, lung disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or pulmonary hypertension, this program focuses on improving their overall Cardiopulmonary health.
About the Program
With a focus on the heart and lungs, the program combines Cardiac Rehabilitation Services and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services under one department. Each program is entirely customized to an individual’s specific needs. The goal is to provide patients with independence while emphasizing healthy daily living activities, diet, exercise, and education on healthy lifestyle choices.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation services are available on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Sessions last 9 to 18 weeks, depending on the patient’s medical needs, or up to 72 sessions in a lifetime.
Cardiac Rehabilitation Services are available on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Sessions last 12 weeks or up to 36 sessions per qualifying cardiac event.
The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation programs emphasize education, diet, exercise, and ways to make healthier lifestyle choices.
Our Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program has three phases.
Phase I is an inpatient program. This phase may be available in the future.
Phase II is a continuous monitoring of a patient’s response to exercise and aerobic activity after a cardiac event, cardiac intervention or lung disease. Jackson Hospital has developed and promotes the Phase II program for both cardiac rehab and pulmonary rehab.
Phase III is a non-monitored phase of the program. Upon completion, patients are highly encouraged to continue their healthy lifestyle by participating in one of the insurance covered programs at Chipola Fitness Center.
If your insurance does not participate or you do not have an insurance discounted rate for a fitness program, Chipola Fitness Center provides a special rate for graduates of Jackson Hospital’s Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program.
